Had the honour to sit on a panel at Borneo Makers Festival to talk about The Future of Agentic AI.
It was brief, but the line that stuck with the press was productivity.
With agentic AI, work that used to take days (scanning a long email thread, pulling a project update together, drafting a deck) can move in a much shorter loop. The agent does the first pass. I steer.
That is the shift I keep coming back to. The model is not only answering questions. It is executing against an instruction.
My agents draft emails. They summarise status. They prep material I still have to stand behind.
I still monitor. I still decide. That is not a footnote. Judgment stays with me.
What changes is where my attention goes. Less time grinding the first draft. More time on the call that matters, the trade-off, the next move.
I have written before about agentic AI as a force multiplier, and about directing the build instead of constructing every piece myself. The panel was the same idea, said out loud in Kuching: use agents to clear the routine and complex grind, then stay in the loop where it counts.
That is the version of this future I want to keep practising.
